Woodridge Elementary preK34th grade students follow an International Baccalaureate program that uses observation questioning and creative scenarios to build the skills and character traits necessary for lifelong learning. With an emphasis on Spanish language study students explore core subject areas such as reading and mathematics with an emphasis on expression and relating to others.
Woodridge Middle students in grades 68 develop a deeper understanding of core content with a focus on critical analysis and college exposure. All students follow a rigorous and culturally diverse curriculum in eight areas: English and language arts foreign language (Spanish) mathematics science social studies humanities art and technology. Advanced Placement skills are embedded in prerequisite courses to ensure readiness for Friendships collegepreparatory high schools.
One of the few D.C. campuses with an inhouse library Woodridge incorporates classic and contemporary books art and music as part of the daily school experience. A Blue Ribbon Schools nominee Woodridges exceptional student outcomes have earned special visits from 43rd U.S. President George W. Bush First Lady Laura Bush and former U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.

Please note that the starting wage is $17.50 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Opens and unlocks the building grounds and parking lots preparing the facility to receive staff and students
- Secures and locks the building and facility at the end of the day ensuring that all gates and doors are secure and that the building alarm system is activated
- Conduct and observe searches of all personal property entering the building including briefcases computer bags pocketbooks and purses students book bags backpacks and lunch boxes
- Staffs various posts in order to provide the appropriate security presence and coverage ensuring personnel safety physical security and asset protection
- Perform security walkthrough of the school in accordance with the assigned daily schedule and as directed
- Prepare a formal Incident Report for submission to the Head of Security when required or directed
- Obtain statements from students staff or teachers as appropriate to properly document significant events which occurred during that days shift
- Maybe required to work weekends early evenings on weekdays and selectedholidays.
Qualifications
- Experience in the role preferred
- Graduation from high school OR GED a minimum of 2 years of experience in security (school experience is preferable). Police experience or higher education may be substituted.
- Preferably 58 years of school security officer work experience
- Ability to obtain Security Certificate or License or avalid District of Columbia Security Officers license issued by the Metropolitan Police Department
- Satisfactory criminal background check satisfactory drug test results.
