Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations Danbury Hospital New Milford Hospital Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut and Northern Dutchess Hospital Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.
Summary of Job Purpose:
Works collaboratively with the health care team under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisors and RNs to provide direct patient care maintain Emergency Department environment and perform various clerical duties. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
License: NA
Experience: Previous medical background and/or EMS training preferred.
Training: BLS preferred.
Responsibility
1 Obtains pertinent registration information from patient and/or family enters into computer and provides ER chart.
2 Performs order entry e.g. Enters orders charges reprinting orders.
3 Assumes responsibility for admitting process (in absence of registrar/clerk)
4 Checks emergency department supplies and restocks as needed. Prepares order for central stores.
5 Performs ER tech skills competently including vital signs EKGs bandaging setting up 02 fingerstick glucose tests etc. Duties to enhance customer service and satisfaction during high volume times.
6 Performs Phlebotomies as directed by RN.
7 Assist in room readiness to prior to patient use.
8 Facilitates communication by answering phones answering patient call lights and is a link between patient patient family and health care team.
9 Performs other patient care duties such as transporting of patients; maintaining log books Xeroxing charts; and other duties designated by Supervisor.
10 Maintains general appearance of Emergency Department (cleaning up after patients cleans stretcher and counters)
11 Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills. Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
12 Follows all time and attendance policies.
13 Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities.
