Job Description
Instructor will support transition to employment and post secondary education for 1621 year olds with Autism Spectrum Disorder by using the T STEP program developed by TEACCH Autism Program at the UNC School of Medicine. Instructor will provide a broad range of personal academic and career counseling services related to goal setting executive function emotion regulation and social skills.
Duties
1Establish and maintain a coaching relationship with students in designated caseload to provide academic coaching case management and college transition services. 2Provide students with academic success strategies which facilitate a successful transition to collegelevel courses foster retention and promote completion of credentials. 3Provide information regarding specific areas of study as well as general knowledge of college and program requirements. 4Monitor document and track student attendance and academic progress. 5Participate in the development and presentation of workshops and other activities focused on transitioning to college and student success. 6Utilize technology to effectively monitor student progression toward credential completion and record student interactions. 7Deliver timely and accurate information to students about resources and services available such as financial aid disability support academic services/support registration assistance housing transportation and personal counseling. 8Work collaboratively with other entities within and without of the college to provide appropriate services to students. 9Contact active and inactive students to assist them with progressing to completion and/or returning to college.
Minimum Requirements
1Experience in communication skills listening writing and speaking; 2Experience working with MS Office products; 3Experience in multitasking troubleshooting problems and ability to create resolutions with minimum supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
1Teaching experience. 2Experience working with a Community College System. 3Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
