Class Summary
- Job Description
This position will plan organize and facilitate outdoor recreation programs at the parks and recreation centers. This position will coordinate with staff volunteers and community partners to achieve outstanding recreation programs. In addition they will oversee prepare and manage program budgets and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Essential Duties- Facilitate partnerships and collaborate with other organizations to enhance programs
- Oversee all outdoor recreation programs
- Maintain and manage outdoor recreation equipment and supplies
- Develop risk management plans for outdoor activities
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements
- Display exemplary communication to internal and external customers
- Provide leadership and guidance to program staff and volunteers
- Assist with interdepartmental projects and events as needed
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices
- Occasionally lead trainings with staff and volunteers
- This job may require oncall rotation and emergency after hours weekends and/or holidays.
The grade for this position is C421. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelors Degree in Parks and Recreation Outdoor Recreation Environmental Science or a related field AND
- Four years of recreation experience including two years of supervisory experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

The County Administrator and County Attorney are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve at its pleasure. To implement the Boards policy directives the County Administrator uses a management team consisting of members of his immediate staff and 14 department directors. The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services Fire and Emergency Services Corrections Communications Support Services Financial Services Community Services Human Resources Information Technology Services Law Planning and Development Water Resources Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the Countys values.
In addition to the executive side of County government certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett they include the Sheriff Tax Commissioner District Attorney Solicitor Probate Court Judge and Chief Magistrate.
