Talon Recruiting has partnered witha leading heavy equipment dealership. Together we are searching for a Service Technician to join their Material Handling team in Terrace BC.
Summary: The Service Technician will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair of Material Handling equipment including electric power and internal combustion engine forklifts and other such equipment. This is a unionized position withInternational Union of Operating Engineers Local 115.
Key Responsibilities: Diagnosis and repair of equipment; Perform routine scheduled Planned Maintenance (PM) services appraisals and Safety Inspections; Complete all necessary time card and report documentation as required; Complete shop work as required by Supervisors direction when required; Communicate repair status and requirements with customers and Supervisors alike; Excel the customer experience by being professional at all times; Order and track all parts request to meet the customer expectation; Complete jobs as assigned. Some out of town at customer site visits might be required; Proactively seek opportunities to grow customer accounts while carrying out your duties; Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Previous aerial and lift truck experience ideal but not essential; Strong trouble shooting skills; Valid drivers license and clean driving record; Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to contribute positively to the team environment; Willingness and desire to learn; A proactive autonomous individual able to set own standards and succeed; Physical capabilities necessary to perform duties of the position (lifting & mobility); Must be willing to travel and complete jobs out of town as assigned;
Training Education and Experience: HeavyDuty Journeyman certification or equivalent experienced in small construction and material handling with consistent exceptional customer service skills; General ability to carry out diagnostics and repairs on Spark Ignition LPG engines and systems Compression Ignition engines Hydraulic and electrical systems as well as reading schematics from each.
