  • THIS POSITION IS FOR8 HOURS PER DAY AT 260 DAYS PER YEAR.

    PAY FOR POSITION: PSE Salary Schedule Level 13 $ 39.53

    This positions responsibilities are to perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance of plumbing systems district wide including associated lines valves and pumps.

    Passage of a preemployment physical/testing is required of this position (the district will assume the cost.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Depending upon the individual assignment the plumber may perform all or a combination of the following:

    1. Repairs maintains and upgrades plumbing systems and lines district wide to assure facilities are kept open in a safe manner.

    2. Responds to emergency calls such as methane gas smells water or sewage leaks and plugged lines. Locates sources of problem and makes appropriate repairs.

    3. Repairs and maintains sewage drains grease traps faucets and hot water circulation pumps. Checks tests and repairs backflow valves to assure safe operation and clean maintenance of potable water system. Operates plumbing snakes to clean drains; unplugs toilets and sinks.

    4. Removes old plumbing and replaces with new lines; roughs in new plumbing.

    5. Provides preventative maintenance to faucets pumps and related plumbing systems; collects water samples for copper and lead traces to assure safe drinking water.

    6. Reviews and reads blueprints to locate existing sewer and water lines and to assist in installing new lines.

    7. Estimates repair costs and materials needed for specific jobs; makes the most costeffective and safe repairs. Calls vendors for prices and materials.

    8. Performs minor electrical repairs related to plumbing systems pumps and hot water tanks.

    9. Performs general maintenance duties as needed to assist in facilitating the continued safe operation of buildings and structures.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS

    10. Assists with repairs involving HVAC carpentry and other construction skills as required.

    11. May assist in training new team members.

    12. Cleans and maintains safe working shop area including assigned vehicle.

    13. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior including protecting confidential information consistent with district ethical guidelines.

    14. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.


    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    Reports to Director of Facilities. Receives guidance from Maintenance Crew Lead.

    MENTAL DEMANDS
    Required to meet strict repair deadlines and inflexible deadlines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Required to stand for prolonged periods; required to lift move or carry objects weighing more than fifty(50 pounds; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases; required to take precautions to avoid exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and materials fumes flames and hot surfaces; required to operate a motor vehicle between sites; required to crouch crawl bend or work in other nonroutine positions.Passage of a preemployment physical/testing is required of this position (the district will assume the cost.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience
    Education training skills and experience necessary to carry out the assignment including four 4 years of increasingly responsible journey level plumbing experience.

    Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing. General knowledge of carpentry painting welding general electrical and other construction skills. Skill in the use of appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to use plumbing testing equipment. Ability to identify problems and make technical plumbing repairs. Knowledge of maintenance safety procedures including lifting techniques. Ability to read blueprints and related documents. Ability to make repairs in a costeffective manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of others. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to apply uniform building and fire safety codes as they apply to plumbing.

    Licenses/Special Requirements
    Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation abuse injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan. Requires Back Flow Assembly Tester license and Washington State journeyman level license. Valid Washington state drivers license and a good driving record.Passage of a preemployment physical/testing is required of this position (the district will assume the cost.
