Requirements of the Angiographer:
HS diploma or GED
Required Certifications & Licensure:
ARRT registration
State of Utah Rad Tech License.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.Must have Vascular/Interventional radiography certification or one year of Angio/Interventional experience.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:ACLS or PALS certification.
Responsibilities of the Angiographer:
- Ensures proper patient identification order verification and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Prepares patients for exam using appropriate body mechanics.
- Identifies proper exams based on patient need and utilizes correct exam techniques.
- Produces quality images through the appropriate operation of equipment/instrumentation.
- Follows proper patient identification protocols.
- Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation including time stamps and image storage.
- Maintains work area and stocks needed supplies.
- Transports patients as needed.Develops specific knowledge with regard to invasive diagnostic and interventional supplies appropriate indications and applications and proper use and deployment techniques.
- At the end of the procedure may apply closure device suture the sheath in place or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.
- Understands and applies principles of xray generation and safety.
- Understands and demonstrates the correct operation of imaging equipment.Provides patient education as needed and assures patient comfort.
- Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech scrub tech or monitoring tech according to Angio lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
