The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East (SLFPAE) operates the regional flood control system and associated facilities in St. Bernard Parish eastbank of Orleans Parish and the eastbank of Jefferson Parish within its control to protect lives and property from tidal flooding by natural weather events. The Maintenance Repairer Master reports to the Maintenance Superintendent. The incumbent must possess the skills to troubleshoot complex issues be skilled in various trades and capable of using tools required to exact repairs. Installs maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures and pipe systems to run liquid gas air water and sewage lines. Exercises and maintains valves and relief wells throughout the area under the responsibility of the SLFPAE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been onthejob experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a twoyear vocational technical program in general building construction construction technology or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant.Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To provide assistance guidance and limited support for an assigned group of not less than 2 two Maintenance Repairers and/or performing advanced journeyman level work in two or more of the following trades: Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Plumbing Machinist and Welding; to independently maintain service or to maintain repair and install a variety of building machinery and stationary equipment using journeyman skills in several trades areas.

Supervision Received:
General from a maintenance supervisor of higher grade
Supervision Exercised:
Leadworker over Maintenance Repairers (minimum of 2 on a regularly assigned or recurring basis.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from other Maintenance Repairer jobs by its function as a leadworker and/or performance at the advanced journeyman level in the HVAC Plumbing Machinist and Welding trades.Examples of Work
60 Serves as the lead worker on assignments and directs the activities of lowerlevel employees including maintenance repairers and trades apprentices. Responsible for troubleshooting and the repair of complex problems. Responsible for the planning organizing and determination of materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks. Conducts the quarterly operation/exercising of all valves owned or operated by the SLFPAE and generates/completes all reports on the operation and maintenance of said valves. Inspects and maintains all relief wells/still wells owned or operated by the SLFPAE and prepares reports associated with wells. 15 Inspects repairs and installs pumps for sewage lift systems air lines water lines gas lines etc. Interprets plans in order to complete projects in a timely and costeffective manner. 10 Keeps all assigned equipment and tools in good working order. 10 Assists other skilled journeyman in the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and spray equipment on herbicide applicator trucks. Works with assigned Maintenance Repairer 2 and trades apprentices by training and inspecting work performed. Provides feedback on quality and quantity of work assigned. 5 Performs other duties as necessary or directed by the Facility Maintenance Manager A or other higherranking supervisors or directors. Place and remove stop logs during high water emergencies. Make place and remove sandbags whenever needed. Place and remove barricades and traffic cones. The incumbent must have a valid drivers license. Plumbing certification is preferred but not required. NOTE: SLFPAE is an emergencyoriented agency. Part of the SLFPAEs mission is to protect the residents of the eastbank of Jefferson Parish St. Bernard Parish and the eastbank of Orleans Parish from tidal surge winddriven water and river flooding. In emergencies during Mississippi River flooding and Hurricane / Tropical Storm events the incumbent will be on call and must report for duty if so required remaining on duty in such situations until released from duty by the Appointing Authority.
