Job Description
Overview
Functions in a leadership role as a unitbased clinical resource and educator. Responsible for staff development orientation and onboarding competency patient education and quality improvement. Supports established standards of care and practice through training staff development clinical improvement activities and patient/staff education. Serves as a role model of clinical excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Orients trains and provides support to nursing students externs residents nursing staff departmental support staff.
- Plans implements and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs.
- Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Staff Registered Nurse.
- Provides oversight of preceptor selection process; may serve as preceptor.
- Uses adult learning principles to plan design implement and evaluate educational opportunities and workshops for staff.
- Facilitates implementation of policies procedures and equipment.
- Maintains education and competency records for unitbased staff.
- Assist with unitspecific competency program; determines competency needs; participates in annual competency evaluation process.
- Participates in hospitalwide QI Program and assists in regulatory and compliance preparation.
- Develops monitors and reports unitbased QI measurement indicators.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
- Two 2 years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
- Must hold Certified in American Heart Associations Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION
PREFERRED
- BSN degree
- Two 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in the clinical specialty.
- Additional Life Support credential (ACLS PALS NRP etc. or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
- Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
