About the Office of Research Scholarship and Community Engagement (ORSCE)
The ORSCE provides managerial support to research scholarship and community engagement activities at MRU. This vibrant group connects with faculty members across disciplines as well as staff in functions across the University including HR Finance Legal Facilities and more. Additionally external partners include other post secondary institutions government agencies and other stakeholders. The ORSCE culture is collaborative and the work fast paced and rewarding. The Director ORSCE reports to the Associate Vice President Research Scholarship and Community Engagement in Academic Affairs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director Office of Research Scholarship and Community Engagement (ORSCE) this position exists to facilitate the grant and ethics review processes at Mount Royal University. This position will monitor pre and post award submission processes ensure documentation is managed and recorded and maintain records of applications and outcomes. This position will also maintain research ethics board communications monitor ethics submission portal oversee review of ethics applications and maintain website resources on research ethics.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates operational activities related to internal funding programs and events as directed by the Director ORSCE by: updating the program guidelines updating and activating applications forms in ROMEO Grants Management System as required receiving and processing of funding applications in ROMEO review submissions for completeness and compliance with opportunity guidelines assignment of applications to review committees and compilation and communication of results
- Maintains the integrity of ROMEO by: following up with faculty on missing documentation sending out reminders as required updating notification of application outcomes closing and completing files
- Ensures application and event forms in ROMEO are uptodate
- Assemble and maintain research activity data for various internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for the daily communications of the research ethics email account and escalates requests as needed
- Monitors research ethics activity such as receiving submissions reviewing submissions for completeness and compliance with REB requirements triaging applications to appropriate review route
- Supports the Human Research Ethics Board (HREB) Student Human Research Ethics Committee (SHREC) and the Animal Care Committee (ACC) by: drafting agendas and minutes compiling meeting packages coordinating meetings ensuring quorum attending REB meetings and following up on action items in a timely manner as appropriate
- assists in REB member recruitment appointment and keeping records of the terms and renewals of appointment; issuing appointment and reappointment letters.
- Oversees applications by: assigning reviewers; ensuring reviewers have provided their feedback by the review date and sending reminders; receiving compiling and assessing reviewer feedback; providing feedback to researcher and/or requesting additional changes; reviewing revisions of applications as required; issuing approval letters
- Maintains up to date REB resources such as the internal REB website training documents and orientation materials
- Maintains the integrity of ethics files including the transfer of files/information into the ethics system following up with researchers for outstanding or missing information/documents sending renewal reminders for studies close to expiry and terminating or suspending files with lapsed approvals
- Verifies that the required ethics training has been completed by REB members.
- Reviews the ethics status for projects with grant funding on a regular basis and provides this information to the post award research team for further escalation

Qualifications
An undergraduate degree (in a researchbased discipline). Experience in a university research environment conducting research in a social sciences or natural sciences field as part of course work or advance research studies would be preferred. Completion of the TCPS2 tutorial is an asset.

Experience:
- Minimum of three years of related experience preferably in a postsecondary environment.
- An understanding of the university research environment.
- An understanding of major research funding programs in Alberta and Canada.
- An understanding of human research ethics.
Education:

Salary: $55982 $2 70841 per annum
