What is special about this role
We are looking to hire a Sr. Accountant with a wellrounded breadth in accounting operations and US GAAP to be an integral part of our growing team. This role will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the accounting workflow including monthend close audit support and providing timely and accurate analytics to Finance Supply Chain and Lab Operations colleagues.
As a Sr. Accountant at Helix you will:
- Perform month end close accounting responsibilities related to inventory and cost of goods sold including inventory including preparation of journal entries account reconciliations and other analyses such as cost variance reports.
- Analyze and report on inventory levels gross margins manufacturing spend absorption standard cost variances E&O reserves and other standard costing concepts
- Manage inventory using a standard costing method and ensuring compliance with US GAAP
- Help to identify perform and drive process improvement opportunities in the month end close process
- Play a handson role in the daytoday accounting operations and work closely with crossfunctional groups to develop and maintain processes procedures and policies
- Help to prepare consolidate review and present cost analyses and KPIs on a monthly basis to finance and operations leadership teams
- Work with the Accounting Manager to improve processes and policies
- Conduct physical count of inventory and monitor cycle count program
- Support quarterly and annual audits by the external auditors
- Participate in the maintenance of the internal financial control environment ensuring data integrity accurate financial statements and safeguarding company assets
- Support / drive adhoc process improvement initiatives.
About you:
- BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/CMA a plus
- Minimum 4 years experience in general accounting: cash and investments. prepaid assets Fixed assets accruals.
- Inventory management and reporting experience
- Understanding of Supply Chain and Cost Accounting preferably in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
- Comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets and summarizing results in a meaningful way for nonfinancial stakeholders
- Successful track record of effectively interfacing with supply chain research and manufacturing personnel to identify support and execute on valueadded ideas to improve processes
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and influence cross functionally
- Experience with designing implementing and monitoring internal controls
- Experience in analyzing and reporting causes of manufacturing variances and recommending corrective actions
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills is a must
- Ability to communicate effectively with nonfinancial stakeholders and identify meaningful trends in financial data that impact business and operational decisions
- Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills and related tools
Pluses:
- Strong handson experience with NetSuite SmartView Planning Tableau and / or Google Suite (Sheets Docs Slides) preferred
- Experience working at a laboratory a plus

Expected Pay For This Role:
There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1 Base Salary 2 Annual Bonus 3 Equity
Expected Helix Base: $68000 $109250
Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 10 of your annual salary

The salary range above is our reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role across US locations. Actual starting pay will be based on nondiscriminatory jobrelated factors including exact work location experience relevant training and education and skill level. What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:
We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits security & privacy training an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.
What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
First 30 days: youll spend time learning the Helix way completing training and onboarding for your roles and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. Youll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers our products the impact we make in the lives of our communities and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.
Day 30 60: youll spend time contributing to projects deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes and developing a deeper understanding of Helixs products services and capabilities.
Day 60 90: youll build your OKRs with your manager start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
