*Salary offer dependent upon experience and qualifications at the time of hire.

Hiring Bonus: Offering a $5000 hiring bonus for this engineering and supervisor role. In addition there will be an additional $5000 bonus upon the successful completion of the 6month probationary period.

Job Summary:

The City of Greeley is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to join the Water and Sewer Department who is leader and professional committed to providing excellence. At Greeley Water & Sewer we strive to achieve excellence through continuous improvement attention to detail teamwork leadership enthusiasm and a growth mindset. Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer the Deputy Chief will lead engineering teams that take great pride in their work and improving water & sewers systems across Greeley. Develop talent cultivate culture and work with the leadership team to engage staff that are eager to provide bottomup solutions and problem solving. This position will be supervising coordinating and overseeing the activities and operations of engineering division for the Water and Sewer Department including Water Treatment Plants Water Resources Collection System Distribution & Transmission Wastewater Treatment & Nonpotable system. Engineering Division.

This position performs highly complex engineering administration duties; serves as project manager occasionally on assigned projects; reviews plans and specifications of Water and Sewer projects and recommends changes for compliance; responds to questions and inquiries from the general public contractors and engineering professionals; and coordinates activities with other City departments and outside agencies. The Deputy Chief Is responsible to: serve as the program manager of the water & sewer Capital Infrastructure including engineering design and construction services necessary to plan and manage projects associated with projects located at the treatment plants or linear projects across the City ; responsible for master planning the existing and future infrastructure for the entire citys water sewer and nonpotable systems work with regional partners to ensure seamless coordination of water or wastewater for Northern Colorado and specifically Greeley with data driven decisions; program management including design construction and processes necessary to implement improvements; communicates to the community for ongoing and future work; supervise engineers engineering technicians and support staff; and implement improvement projects for continual improvement in the Citys infrastructure. This position may be located in Fort Collins and/or Greeley.

Experience Knowledge Skills:

Minimum Requirements

Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record (for positions that require driving on behalf of the City).
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or a closely related field).
Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE).
15 years of experience in municipal engineering or similar related work experience in a nongovernmental or governmental environment.
10 years of experience in the design construction and oversight of water and wastewater projects that includes knowledge of the materials design methods and
construction techniques used in the design.
Candidates should have skills and understanding of software packages relating to ArcMap/GIS.

OR

A combination of related education experience certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job may be considered by the hiring authority.

Preferred

Masters of Science preferred.
5 years of experience in hydraulic modelling InfoWater software.
5 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro.
5 years of supervisory experience preferred including supervising employees and projects performance management and conflict resolution.
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

Travel: May be required to travel up to 10 of the time for training or conferences. Travel outside of the office will be dependent on project needs coordination and activities within Greeley and Northern Colorado.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The work environment is a combination of inoffice and field locations with frequent interaction with other staff and frequent participation in meetings. Estimated
work location includes office 90 and field 10.
Frequent public contact in person by email/telephone with office and field and participation in meetings. Sometimes facing adverse or confrontational situations
with internal/external customers.
Exposure to all weather conditions and various types of noise when on project sites.
Fieldwork involves working in and around construction projects with heavy equipment being used by contractors.
oSafety equipment such as hard hat reflective safety vest hard toe boots and safety glasses are provided and used as needed.
Position requires incumbent to be ambulatory.
Mobility and manual dexterity to inspect work sites operate vehicles and use computer equipment.
Vision enough to interpret written documents interpret engineering drawings and inspect work products.
Communication skills to adequately convey information to contractors property owners other personnel and the general public.
Mobility to inspect work sites for compliance with plans and specifications and move over rough uneven or rocky surfaces.
Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment and vehicles to accurately input retrieve and verify work assignments and use hands to finger handle feel and
reach with hands and arms.
Duties may occasionally require light to moderate physical effort including stooping kneeling crouching crawling frequent standing or walking frequently lifting
and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Extensive work is performed on a computer.
May be required to conduct business in alternate locations within City buildings or field sites sometimes in formal settings.
May be required to work extended hours in the evening holidays or weekends.
Frequent interruptions and required to manage competing priorities with inflexible deadlines.
