Job Description
Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Mishra Lab. Postdoctoral fellows specializing in cardiovascular physiology are particularly encouraged to apply. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a research background in cell biology biochemistry mitochondria metabolism cell signaling cardiovascular physiology or a related field. Our lab employs a wide range of scientific methods including protein biochemistry metabolism bioenergetics FRET proteomics epigenomics and mouse genetics providing an excellent opportunity for multidisciplinary training. The project is funded by the American Heart Association.
The Postdoctoral Associate will have responsibilities in the following areas: 1. Research Conceptualization and implementation Coordinating with and assisting the PI in the design and undertaking of experiments and grant proposal methodologies as well as methods for analyzing the results of experiments. 2. Research Publications Preparation of text tables and graphical information as appropriate for dissemination in peerreviewed publications or presentation at professional conferences or in book chapters.3. Data Analysis Analyzing the findings from research methods and transforming the results into formats appropriate for dissemination in peerreviewed publications or conference presentations or informats that engender further analysis. 4. Project Management Training and supervising research personnel to organize and conduct study sessions.
Required Qualifications
PhD in cardiovascular physiology or similar medical discipline. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Prior experience in preparation of proposals reports and publications; presentation of research results; and development of patents.
Preferred Qualifications
A record of research excellence as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and invited talks.
Demonstrated work in interdisciplinary collaborative teams.
