Director Alexion Data Office

Hybrid Work on average 3 days/week from office
Minimum 1 day from our Mississauga office and 2 days from our Mississauga or Downtown (temporary) office
This is what you will do:
The Director Alexion Data Office role is a key member of the Alexion organization reporting to the Alexion CFO & CAO and has close interactions with Commercial R&D Operations and Enabling Units and IT functions globally while being a point of coordination with the AstraZeneca Enterprise Data Office (EDO) which sponsors and leads Data & AI Governance across the enterprise.
Alexion is now in the process of aligning with the EDO and establishing its own Data Office to govern our Data and Analytics (D&A) activities while working and aligning with the EDO on areas of shared needs according to the operating model.
In this role you will ensure Alexion adherence with EDO Policies and accountability frameworks. You will be accountable for Data and AI Governance Regulatory and Risk Management D&A Asset Management Master and Reference Data Management Data Contracting and Partnerships.
You will collaborate with the Alexion functional Data Management teams to develop a comprehensive D&A strategy that aligns with the companys objectives and regulatory requirements. You will act as a liaison between the Alexion Data Office and senior leadership providing regular updates on datarelated initiatives and performance.
Accountabilities/Duties:
Supporting the development of EDO policies and standards and refine/create new policies and standards at the Alexion level as required
Facilitate the establishment of functional D&A governance at Alexion ensuring key governance roles identified at the enterprise level are fulfilled at the Alexion level
Reporting on adherence to EDO standards frameworks and processes
Conducting and reporting on peer benchmarking
Participating in data & AI audits
Setting standards for regulatory and risk monitoring for functions and operating Alexion D&A risk management
Monitoring for changes in external laws and regulations impacting Alexion
Working with EDO to refine policies/standards based on risk/regulatory assessment findings and communicating regulatory/risk changes to Alexion functions
Selfassurance of governance compliance via measurement/risk analysis providing timely assurance and risk metrics to the EDO
Aiding development of enterprise D&A strategies and ensuring Alexion alignment. Tailoring/creating strategies at the Alexion level as required
Suggesting refinements to activities to strengthen strategic alignment
Generating and collecting metrics to assure teams understanding and application of Alexion strategies and running activities to communicate and promote
Generating strategy assurance reports and sharing findings/outcomes with the EDO
Supplying to the development and adherence of information architecture policies standards and frameworks
Creating Alexion standards for design & delivery of functional data products and ensuring alignment with EDO
Leading functional teams generation of data and promoting/driving improvement in cataloguing of data in line with FAIR and quality standards
Supporting and assuring Alexion compliance with the development of EDO Master and Reference Data policies standards frameworks
Supervising Master and Reference Data generated by functions
Supporting the development of standards and policies for identifying securing and maintaining data partnerships
Finding opportunities for Alexion data contracts / partnerships and coordinating/consolidating across functions
Assuring adherence to data contracting and partnership standards by tracking and reporting on metrics set by the EDO
Essential for the role:
Bachelors degree in Data Management Information Technology Computer Science or a related field
Proven experience in a leadership role within a data management or analytics function
Indepth knowledge of data governance principles data quality management and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR HIPAA).
Strong understanding of data integration data architecture and data security practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
Strategic thinking and the ability to translate business needs into actionable data strategies
Desirable for the role:
Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry experience
Masters degree in data management Information Technology Computer Science or a related field
