Job Description
Position Summary: The incumbent is responsible for the provision of pharmacy services including all drug distribution services and clinical pharmacy services.
Position responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Pharmacist in planning implementing and coordinating all aspects of the pharmacy services at the clinic.
- Interacts with the pharmacy medical and nursing staff as well as other departments.
- Responsible for the provision of direct care to patients under pharmacy acute and chronic care protocols. Responsible for required reports associated with this activity.
- Acts as consultant to medical and nursing staffs concerning drug therapy and provides drug information services as needed.
- Provides patient education and consultation on proper use of medications including cautions side effects and proper storage. Educates patient for better understanding of disease state.
- Responsible for accurate filling and dispensing of prescriptions. Reviews patient Electronic Health Record (EHR) profile for appropriateness of drug therapy drug interactions proper dosage and compliance when dispensing medications.
- Responsible for maintaining professional and IHS standards of pharmacy practice requiring continuing education and professional quality.
- Responsible in conjunction with the Chief for pharmacy related quality assurance activities of the clinic.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
- Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy License.
- Provides direct patient care for Pharmacybased clinical services such as anticoagulation therapy.
- Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Completed Residency
- Experience supervising a team.
