Job Description

Title: Machine Tool Technology Adjunct Instructor parttime

Job Summary

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for a parttime adjunct instructor position in machine tool technology. This position will work mainly with high school students in Anderson County and work less than 30 hours per week.

Job Duties

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices in the Machine Tool Technology occupation; knowledge of materials tools and equipment used; considerable knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating of education and experience. Physically able to lift stoop stand and walk to demonstrate and perform all workbased projects required. Ability to administer written and performance tests to measure progress and maintain student records and attendance in a timely manner. Ability to deal tactfully with students the public and coworkers; ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; to express ideas clearly concisely and convincingly; and ability to plan and direct the work of others. Assist in the recruitment and placement of students. (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of postsecondary diploma of an associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field from an accredited technical training program
Three 3 years of fulltime related work experience as a machinist
Must have knowledge of and ability to operate conventional machinist and computer numerical controlled (CNC) equipment
Must commit to remain current in the machinist field and maintain program accrediting status

Preferred Qualifications

NIMS and/or industry certification
Teaching experience
Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures
Skill in managing deadlines and working in a teamoriented environment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The candidate must be a good communicator with effective verbal and written skills and be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities.
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with students the public and other employees
Strong customer service skills
Computer skills including general Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook knowledge.
