Senior Accountant Ceded
The Senior Accountant Ceded is responsible for supporting the financial accounting internal controls budgeting and financial reporting for the company as appropriate within the Finance team. This role participates in/leads projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting requirements in an increasingly complex environment including leading smaller projects or certain work streams within larger projects. The Senior Accountant Ceded has close interaction across multiple areas of the business and works with the wider Finance Team to add value across relevant teams.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Preparation of timely and accurate financial reporting both for internal and external purposes in accordance with required GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Work with relevant partners to ensure accuracy of transactions and financial disclosure.
- Support the continued enhancement and ongoing development of multiple financial systems ensuring that all Finance needs are met.
- Preparation of technical accounting memos observing US GAAP and providing support in the preparation of more technically challenging accounting memos.
- Assist with completing aspects of the monthly close including financial reporting in compliance with US or other relevant GAAP or other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and/or review detailed analysis and monthly/quarterly reconciliations including reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Ensure appropriate SOX 404 processes exist and are followed for preparation and submission of financial data.
- Communicate with our auditors.
Financial Performance and Analysis
- Support the FP&A team with the preparation of budgets and other financial plans for management information corporate entities and third parties.
- Provide ongoing and/or ad hoc data analysis to various stakeholders as required.
Strategic Projects
- Participate in miscellaneous project work and provide general assistance to the Finance Department and other teams.
- Provide adhoc support to the CAO Global Corporate Controller and business unit leads as required.
Expected Competencies:
- A bachelors or university degree preferred or comparable relevant experience.
- A professional accounting designation required (e.g. CA ACA CPA)
- At least 2 to 5 years relevant prior experience (Ideally Big Four audit experience preferably within the relevant functional area (e.g. insurance).
- Fully proficient has indepth knowledge works independently on moderate to high complex matters.
- Utilises solid technical competence to achieve exemplary results and to manage and resolve issues.
- Proactively identifies resources actions and timelines needed to achieve objectives.
- Shares resources appropriately and balances the needs of the total department with individual goals and priorities.
- Conveys points of view/positions in a way that influences opinions and demonstrates flexibility in adapting personal style to different individuals.
- Proactively shares relevant information to keep others in the loop on important issues updates priorities new developments and results.
- Makes improvements of processes systems products or solutions to enhance performance of the department or job area.
- Responds to and troubleshoots moderate to highly complex inquiries/issues both internally and externally.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and other relevant GAAP as applicable.
- Experience with public companies and SOX 404 is advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger and reinsurance accounting systems is preferred.
