Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is an essential part of the countrys network of healthcare systems. Together with donors recipients employees partners and volunteers Canadian Blood Services is Canadas Lifeline providing lifesaving products and services in transfusion and transplantation for Canadian patients and safeguarding Canadas systems of life essentials in blood plasma stem cells and organs and tissues.

CBS is seeking an experienced leader to serve as its next Chief Privacy Officer (CPO). Reporting to the VicePresident General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer the CPO will lead the development implementation and oversight of policies and procedures governing privacy and access to information. Overseeing a team of internal and external experts the CPO ensures the delivery of professional timely and costeffective guidance to internal stakeholders. As the organizations thought leader on privacy matters the CPO will ensure that privacy data protection and data ethics are embedded as core elements of CBS strategic and operational framework. This role will also work closely with the Digital Solutions and Technology division to integrate privacy considerations into cybersecurity artificial intelligence and data management systems and initiatives. A champion of privacy innovation ethical data use and responsible data stewardship the CPO will play a pivotal role in helping CBS navigate an evolving digital landscape in a manner that reflects CBS values. With a panCanadian mandate this position requires national coordination and leadership across multiple jurisdictions and stakeholders.

As an ideal candidate you bring a law degree or relevant advanced degree from a recognized academic institution. You possess substantial privacy leadership experience and are a strategic leader who thrives in complex and dynamic environments. You possess deep expertise in legislative and regulatory frameworks related to privacy and access to information and you have a proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. You understand the intersection of privacy technology and data ethics and can guide the organization in mitigating emerging privacy risks in a digitalfirst world. Your ability to lead and motivate a team is complemented by your strategic forwardthinking approach. You excel in navigating complex environments influencing decisionmaking and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders regulators and external consultants. With excellent communication and problemsolving skills you can translate complex privacy issues into clear actionable guidance. Finally you are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity ethics and accountability in support of CBS mission.
