Job Description
Overview
i3 is looking for a Graphic Designer to help craft clean UI crisp 2D elements onbrand motion graphics and more for its Virtual Training Simulation and Gaming business.
As a Graphic Designer you will be responsible for a variety of digital products based in Captivate and the Unity game engine. You will work with highly skilled and motivated delivery teams made of Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs) Software Engineers 3D Artists and Tech Leads to design develop test build and deploy customer training software and have a blast doing it.
Responsibilities
i3s ideal candidate is responsible for supporting all kinds of design efforts of these digital products validating their efforts regularly with Creative leadership other designers and the product development team. They are responsible for the accurate implementation of their eventual designs into the game engine as well and work closely with the Software Engineers to ensure this.
Our ideal candidate workshops their efforts with the Creative Director and Creative Operations team weekly to ensure their designs and implementations are cohesive. Theyre cool to hang with critique and can pick up brand standards and iterate on them easily.
Our ideal also candidate has a portfolio that demonstrates the core competencies of a graphic designer. In fact it is required that you submit an online portfolio and/or website of your work with your application.
While the best MidLevel Graphic Designer portfolios typically display a proficiency in web design and mobile apps other efforts in motion graphics branding and logomark design highprofile print design marketing projects with whizbang design efforts collaborations with other folks and video work all wont hurt. Primary Responsibilities:
- Specialization in one or more areas of design such as user experience (UX) design user interface (UI) design visual design interaction design user research and analysis or product development.
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with software engineers and other stakeholders.
- Illustrate design ideas using wireframes process flows and sitemaps as needed.
- Successfully apply those wireframes process flows and sitemaps to create prototypes mockups and final compositions to show and demonstrate designs.
- Craft simple motion graphics and ensure implementation by software engineers is solid.
- Provide feedback to software engineers as designs are implemented to ensure user experience is cohesive and accurate.
- Regularly workshop efforts with the Creative Director and the Creative Operations team to maintain a cohesive design and quality of the digital product.
- Leverage design thinking and questioning techniques to develop strategies where pathways are not always clear.
- Prepare and help guide software engineers on the implementation of UI/UX designs into Captivate and/or Unity.
Qualifications
Required experience skills and traits:
- Bachelors Degree plus at least three 3 years experience in graphic design (such as web mobile motion graphics branding and logo design etc.. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree.
- Working knowledge and skill in design tools for example Photoshop Illustrator XD After Effects and/or other Adobe Creative Suite products as well as optional (but not required; see Preferred below) prototyping tool like Sketch Figma Balsamic etc.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across audiences at various levels of understanding.
- Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work with other designers and software engineers to implement new ideas.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred experience skills and traits:
- Familiarity with Adobe Captivate authoring tool.
- Collaboration with system and software engineers.
- Working knowledge and/or understanding of prototyping tools like Sketch Figma Balsamic etc.
- Experience that demonstrates a variability of design skills.
- Understanding and appreciation of standard user interface design concepts.
- Understanding of foundational design principles and practices typography and color and multidevice usability standards.
