Position Summary

The Event Manager will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event; occasionally hire train schedule and supervise all event staff as well as oversee building and parking security and interact with local public safety officials to ensure events run smoothly; coordinate communication between event staff and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.

This role pays a yearly salary of $45000 to $50000.

About the Venue

Doggett Ford Park is the premier sports entertainment and convention destination of Southeast Texas! Conveniently located in Beaumont Texas on Interstate Highway 10 between Houston and Lake Charles our versatile event center features five worldclass facilities on 221 acres.

Doggett Ford Fields opened in 2002 and has 12 championshipcaliber youth baseball/softball fields a centralized gate covered stands concessions restrooms and 1000 space parking lot. Tournaments are hosted most weekends during the season.

Doggett Ford Pavilion opened in Spring 2003 with Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban and continues to host some of the biggest names in music. The 14000seat Ford Pavilion has firstclass amenities ample parking restrooms food and beverage plazas and lots of space to enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars.

Doggett Ford Arena Ford Exhibit Hall and Ford Midway opened in the Fall of 2003 with Ford Arena selling out its inaugural event. The 8500 seat multipurpose Ford Arena hosts concerts rodeos circuses motor sports and many other special events. Theres always something going on at Ford Arena! Ford Exhibit Hall has 48000 square feet of exhibit space and is attached to the Arena offering a combined 83000 square feet of space. The Exhibit Hall includes 8 individual meeting rooms an 11000 square foot lobby or prefunction space concession stands and restrooms. Ford Midway is home to the YMBLsponsored South Texas State Fair which draws an attendance of over 400000 each year. With 9 acres of paved midway there is plenty of room for festivals fairs and rodeos. Structures in Ford Midway include a 45000 square foot practice arena over 25000 square feet of covered barn space and a dedicated parking area.

Responsibilities

  • Plan service and supervise large events
  • Plan direct and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • Provide leadership for event personnel
  • Analyze challenges identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff contractors and facility users
  • Work a flexible schedule including long nights early mornings weekends and holidays as needed
  • Assist in the advancement of events/shows
  • Assist in the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events/shows
  • Assist with the completion of preshow event financial estimates
  • Assist with the completion of postshow event settlements
  • Advise lessees on services available from independent contractors for events
  • Recruit and train event parking and security staff
  • Create work schedules for event parking and security staff delegate assignments and review performance and results
  • Function as a liaison between users of the facility and the facility staff
  • Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels
  • Coordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load in and load out
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees employees municipal officials service contractors and patrons/public
  • Investigate and resolve eventrelated complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Ensure maintain equipment (radios headsets etc. for all event parking and security staff
  • Ensure that the facility is cleaned prior to during and after all events to maintain building appearance and increase customer satisfaction
  • Make hospitality arrangements as needed
  • Communicate with municipal officials including police fire and medical services event staff and public to ensure security of patrons and events run smoothly
  • Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event
  • Create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event
  • Assist and direct changeover crew with breakdown and setup of events as needed
  • Coordinate with AGM as needed to ensure event staff and other applicable parties are paid
  • Coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage provider as needed
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • Assist with the scheduling of staff of the ball fields
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Three five 35 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium arena convention center or public assembly facility setting
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management hospitality management business or related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications word processing and Internet
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of events
  • Ability to identify the needs of users of the facility
  • Knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • Knowledge of customer service practices
  • Knowledge of principles of supervision scheduling and training employees
  • Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
  • Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
  • Experience with budget preparation and control
  • Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred but not required
