Job Summary
This fulltime position is located at our office in Columbia Falls Montana. The primary responsibility is to work closely with project owners particularly the Montana Department of Transportation subcontractors and our employees to ensure contract requirements construction schedules and operational expectations are being met. Other responsibilities include environmental permitting/compliance developing work scheduling contract review/approval quality control submittal review/compliance progress payments and project finalization. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential to being successful in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Construction Engineer include but are not limited to:
Directly responsible for the following aspects of project administration:
o Environmental permitting and compliance (SWPPP & Temporary Facilities experience preferred)
o Support Project team with Primavera (P6 schedules and monthly updates (P6 Primavera software experience required).
o Submit and maintain RFIs (Requests for Information) submittals log change orders log and daily reports.
o Submittal review/compliance
o Assist with document control for design drawings specifications and revisions.
o Support project team with correspondence letters to owners and other project stakeholders (e.g. subcontractors agencies)
o Serve as the liaison between Owners all stakeholders superintendents and office teams.
o Attend weekly project meetings as needed complete meeting minutes and ensure accurate schedule updates.
o Complete and track survey requests for field crews and subcontractors
o Progress payment review and approval
o Project finalization
o Track material certifications for compliance and materials in storage
o Track quality control inspections and assist with nonconformance reports (NCRs).
o Document and review environmental controls and permit requirements.
o Assist tracking of quantities and materials for royalties.
Design review and regulatory compliance:
o Serve as a resource for project specification queries and issues
o Review design documents and construction processes to identify and resolve project constructability issues
Relationship management:
o Buildstrongandtrustingrelationshipswithprojectstakeholders inparticular the Montana DepartmentofTransportation other project owners subcontractors and suppliers
Other Requirements:
5 years of construction engineering experience preferred
Able to understand plans specifications and contracts
Previous experience with heavy highway contract administration and management is not required but is highly preferred
Experience using Microsoft Offices suite of products (Word Excel Outlook) is preferred
Promote execute and adhere to the companys policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook
Promote a team approach and maintain an open and respectful approach to communication with all employees
Wear appropriate protective equipment: steeltoed boots hard hats ear and eye protection when visiting job sites
A valid drivers license and a good MVR is
Must comply with the companys drug and alcohol testing requirements
Limited travel to our project sites across Western Montana
