Atrium HealthMusculoskeletal Institute Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Albemarle NC is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for an established practice. We are looking for a candidate that is quality driven and is ready to make a big impact on a small community.

Our practice is a communitybased hospital and a highly motivated partner within Atrium Healths Musculoskeletal Institute (MSKI) of which is one of the largest Musculoskeletal programs in the country. Were fortunate to retain our small community feel while also enjoying the proximity to the Charlotte metro region. Additionally we have an extensive network of physicians within the institute including spine ortho primary care sports medicine physical medicine and rehab.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate Emergency Department and inpatient Orthopedic consults including obtaining history performing physical exams reviewing and ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and imaging and conferring with the oncall Orthopedic surgeon to arrange a proper treatment plan and/or followup schedule
  • Perform procedures to include: local wound care suturing bedside I&Ds traction pin placement arthrocentesis joint/trigger point injections closed reductions splint and/ cast application
  • Assist in scheduling and coordination of surgical treatments for trauma patients (i.e. coordination with Trauma team consultants OR charge nurse obtaining consent etc.
  • Assist in OR as needed emergent or nonelective cases
  • Perform coding and billing for consultations and procedures performed
  • Facilitate discharge and disposition of trauma patients working closely with Social Work Clinical Case Managers and consultant teams
  • Participate in quality control initiatives
  • Assist with call responsibility
