40Summary:
Registration is a twentyfour 24 hour seven 7 day a week operation functioning as the nucleus of accurate patient information with direct public interface and timely service therefore the Patient Access Specialist must be detail oriented personable calm flexible honest and capable of handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. The Patient Access Specialist provides access to services provided at the hospital and/or clinic. This position is primarily responsible to facilitate the patient registration flow by gathering patient demographic and thirdparty information with a high degree of accuracy. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients coworkers and families. Critical to this position is understanding the revenue cycle and the importance of evaluating and securing all appropriate financial resources for patients to maximize reimbursement to CCMC. This position also requires timely completion preparation and deployment of legal ethical and compliance related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration. The PAS is responsible for maintaining a sound knowledge of JCAHO Patient Rights and Responsibilities HIPAA HMOs PPOs Commercial Payors and departmental/System policies and procedures. Maintain knowledge of all tasks performed in the various Patient Access Service areas is necessary to provide optimum internal and external customer satisfaction. This position does not provide patient care but may be performed in a patient care area.
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
1 years of Health Care experience required in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Medical terminology preferred.
Ability to type spell write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers required.
Strong interpersonal communication documentation and customer service skills required.
Knowledge of health care insurance and managed care preferred.
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00pm to 6:30am
