TEMPORARY FULL TIME UNTIL APPROX. JUNE 30 2025
Under the direction of the Clinical Operations Manager the position responds to inquiries about mental health services from the general public prospective clients of CMHA HDGH outpatient mental health programs other mental health services agencies family members and as well as from other health or social service agencies. Where indicated the incumbent conducts comprehensive assessments with individuals referred to or seeking services at CMHAWECB and HDGH outpatient mental health programs. There is an expectation that this position will provide intervention to individuals via phone and face to face while connecting them to the most appropriate resource for ongoing support.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Intake and Assessment duties include:
- Provides intervention and shortterm supports to individuals experiencing a mental health issue (interventions may be via telephone or by personal contact) including quick response to situations that may arise with individuals associated with the Coordinated Access program
- Provides information on community resources to other employees associated with the Coordinated Access program when appropriate
- Conducts and completes detailed bio psychosocial assessments for all individuals referred to and seeking services to a mental health outpatient program; this may include liaising & communicating with referral sources
- Provides mental health assessment & access functions at various locations in WindsorEssex County
- Participates in public education services including a variety of educational presentations dealing with mental health mental illness and Branch services
- Develops resource materials for educational presentations and groups
- Evaluates effectiveness of educational presentations activities and sessions
- Represents the program and agency in a professional manner including with groups concerned with the client population and serves on various community committees on behalf of the Branch
- Maintains uptodate knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation and programs & services of local social agencies government departments institutions & other groups concerned with the client population
- Provides regular supervision advice and support to agency volunteers and student placements in program and service area including performance evaluation of such volunteers and students
- Substitutes for and provides additional support to other agency staff as required
- Provides afterhours coverage for clients of the program following policies and procedures for such
- Ensures all file management and reporting functions are maintained in a comprehensive and timely manner
EDUCATION & SKILLS:
- Requires knowledge and skill acquired through completion of University degree as deemed relevant by the employer (i.e. BSW BScN)
- Registered member in good standing of a professional college deemed relevant by the employer such as the College of Nurses (preferably with Canadian Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing) or the College of Social Workers in good standing is required
- Two 2 years recent relevant clinical work in the judgment of the employer with vulnerable individuals with serious mental illnesses
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness and treatments; functions and principles of case management
- Up to date knowledge of relevant mental health policy and legislation including the Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of community resources
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Verbal and written competency in both official languages is considered an asset
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various Microsoft software applications
- A valid Ontario Drivers License with access to a reliable vehicle and proof of current insurance and licensing are required for this position
Hours of Work: ThirtyFive 35 hour work week. Flexible hours are required to meet client and service needs. The agencys regular hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Salary range: Grade 9 $37.10 $43.93 per hour
