Job Summary

The Industrial Emergency Medical Technician will be responsible for performing as a collaborative member of the occupational health team onsite at client company medical facilities. They will be able to provide a safe screening environment for evaluation of injuries and first aid needs occurring in the industrial setting under the direction of the Occupational Health physician Nurse Practitioner or onsite RN Program Manager. They will also provide support in all areas of the program including but not limited to health promotion activities industrial hygiene monitoring substance abuse testing return to work requirements intake of confidential paperwork dissemination of data throughout a multidisciplinary team and entering and maintaining medical records. Customer Service focus requires a high level of professionalism strict confidentiality critical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Accountabilities

  • Performs/assists with industry specific testing and screening for preplacement and annual surveillance of client company employees. Tests may include audiometric pulmonary function respirator fit vision EKGs laboratory and/or other industry specific tests. 30

  • Responds promptly to assesses monitors provides necessary medical treatment and prepares for potential transport of injured patients in the industrial setting in emergent situations in accordance with department system and South Carolina DHEC policies procedures and standards. 20

  • Responsible for administrative duties including timely and accurate documentation in written and electronic medical records uploading documents data entry scheduling appointments and dissemination of information by email. 10

  • Performs substance abuse testing as needed by collecting and processing specimens per company specific policies. 10

  • Maintains supply management and quality control of first aid kits emergency response bags AEDs oxygen tanks over the counter medication vending machines and other medical department equipment. 5

  • Ensure treatment areas are cleaned stocked and set up between client. 5

  • Maintains professional certifications by attending inservice training programs. 5

  • Attends staff meetings/complies with employee health requirements/completes mandatory employee training programs. 5

  • Demonstrates skill proficiencies on an annual basis. 5

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 5

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a nonmanagement job that will report to a supervisor manager director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of Basic EMT course

  • 2 years EMT Experience that includes response to acute injuries and medical emergencies

In Lieu Of

The required South Carolina and National Registry EMS certifications will meet the educational requirements of this role.

Required Certifications Registrations Licenses

  • SCEMT SC Basic Emergency Medical Tech American Board of Radiology

  • National Registry of EMTs

  • SC Drivers License

  • BCLS Basic Cardiac Life Support

Knowledge Skills or Abilities

  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in word processing and databases

  • Data entry skills

  • Mathematical skills

  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

  • DOT and or NonDOT Urine Drug Screening collector Breach Alcohol Technician Certification Preferred

  • CAOHC Audiometric Testing Certification Preferred

  • NIOSH Spirometry Certification Preferred

  • Phlebotomy Skills Preferred
