Shift: PRN Position 48 hours month required) 12hour shifts 7am 7pm and 7pm 7am

weekend shift varies

Location: Travel between four 4 and 10 Emory locations within Emory Healthcare Locations

Salary: $24.50

We are seeking a capablePatient Care Techperforms assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN including but not limited to cleaning the patients room operating various clinical equipment helping with emergencies assisting with patient procedures collecting and transporting patient specimens and completing applicable forms.

  • Communicates with patients families and members of the patient care team. Maintains hospital and unitspecific competencies.
  • As part of a patient focused service promotes a supportive and healing environment so that customer and staff satisfaction are enhanced.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN. Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene comfort and rest are provided.
  • Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines Infection Control procedures and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.
  • Assists in the use of bagvalvemask device antiembolism stockings pneumatic compression stockings oxygen suction equipment incentive spirometer emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.
  • Operates converter chair lifts scales beds stretchers wheelchairs noninvasive BP monitors automatic thermometer sphygmomanometer pulse oximeter and computers.
  • Records patient intake and output. Assists RN/LPN in providing patient care according to individual needs by assisting with range of motion ambulation patient transfers diet elimination and hygiene.
  • Observes and reports significant or unusual information about the patient and environment to the RN/LPN and documents appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Transports patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed. Contributes to the completion of patient admission transfer and discharge.
  • Assists with postmortem care. Utilizes appropriate technology to complete all related processes. Participates in unitbased and systemwide Performance Improvement program as required by department leadership.
  • Serves as a resource/model through compliance with standards of care and with Department of Nursing and Hospital policies and procedures. May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas. Participates in the orientation of nursing support assistants to the unit.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS required.
  • Two 2 years of direct patient care experience in hospital
  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia OR
    • Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations.
