Description
The Second Assistant Superintendent assists with the daytoday oversight of the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds including but not limited to the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance complex. This position reports to the First Assistant Superintendent and helps oversee the departments Greenskeepers.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Help run a crew of 20
- Help oversee golf course
- Aid in irrigation repairs
- Able to operate various machines
- Employee and Safety training
- Keep shop organized and clean
- Course Setup
- Pick up trash
- Help apply fertilizer and pesticides
- Equipment maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A college degree preferred but not required
- PGA Tournament Experience a Plus
- Ability to obtain a California Pesticide License
- Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus
- GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred but not required
- Knowledge of budgeting and expense management strongly desired
- Supervisory experience strong desired
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Knowledge of agronomy turf grass science and the rules of golf
- Must possess basic computer skills Word and Excel
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be extremely organized efficient and detailoriented
- Must be highly motivated goal driven and selfstarter
