Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is now accepting applications for a one 1 year psychologist resident to begin Fall 2025. This is a limited duration 1 year) position and is an opportunity to complete the residency required for psychologist licensure in Oregon. This position works under the supervision of a licensed psychologist providing intake and specialty assessment and treatment services upon referral of youth primarily at MacLaren and Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facilities.

A Day In The Life:

Psychological Assessments

  • Administers scores and interprets standardized psychological tests to evaluate intellectual personality social functioning and violence predictors of youth.
  • Integrates test results behavioral observations youth interview data and collateral data from others to form diagnosis and make treatment recommendations.
  • Writes reports of findings and recommendations for diagnosis treatment or discharge that can be used by the youth family and youth correctional facility multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Treatment Planning

  • Provides input from psychological assessment to the youths multidisciplinary team.
  • Provides assistance with specific youths behavior management planning including developing behavioral management plans.
  • Provides assistance with milieu management planning for individual youth.

Treatment

  • Provides assistance to youth to help them understand and modify their behavior.
  • Works with and through youth correctional facility multidisciplinary team to support positive youth behavior.

Training

  • Serves as a resource to staff on correctional and behavioral treatment topics.
  • Attends regularly scheduled clinical supervision with a licensed psychologist two 2 hours per week.
  • All written work will be reviewed and cosigned by licensed psychologist.

In 2003 Congress passed the Prison Elimination Act (PREA) the first federal civil statue focused specifically on addressing sexual violence in juvenile facilities jails prisons and other facilities. In recognition of the rights safety and wellbeing of the youth we serve you will be asked specific questions about your background to ensure our hiring and promotion practices comply with the National PREA standards.

All OYA employees are required to submit to a twostep TB test to establish a TB free base line. If offered employment and you accept OYA will offer you the TB testing and if you refuse OYA will require the necessary documentation from your personal health care provider as a condition of employment.

All positions in OYA will require the incumbent to serve as a mandatory reporter of child abuse.
