Description

Job Summary: The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for supporting the Head Golf Professional in managing all aspects of golf operations and the golf operations team at your respective golf course. While delivering an exceptional experience for Tahoe Mountain Club Members and Guests. The First Assistant Golf Professional will be a key player in our Golf Operations Management team responsible for daily operations staff management tournament coordination and player development programs. This position requires a passionate golf professional who can seamlessly blend customer service and hospitality excellence with operational efficiency.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist in managing daily golf operations including tee times tournaments and member events.
  • Oversee and train golf shop staff and outside service personnel.
  • Ensure that superior standards of service and hospitality are meeting and aiming to exceed standards of our members guests and crew members; and are constantly being improved upon.
  • Assist in inventory management and merchandising the golf shop.
  • Must maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Develop and enforce tournament regulations.
  • Work with superintendent to ensure the golf course is in tournament condition and to address any specific needs.
  • Collaborate with course maintenance superintendent to ensure optimal playing conditions.
  • Assist in overseeing cart fleet maintenance and club repair services.
  • Attend exhibitions buying shows tournaments and educational seminars to stay abreast in the golf industry.
  • Meet with the staff at all levels to plan for the future of golf as well as expediting the needs of the current expectations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages and volume.
  • Assist in preparing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Assist with monitoring and analyzing the financial performance of golf operations.
  • Implement strategies to increase revenue and control expenses.
  • Uphold community support through involvement in organizations and/or charitable events
  • Educate train retrain and develop team member in golf operations tour organization and merchandising and proper checkin procedures.
  • Directly supervise staff by carrying out the responsibilities in accordance with Tahoe Mountain Clubs policies and procedures. This will include planning assigning and at times performing activities of workers supervised.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Because of the fluctuating demands of the Clubs operation it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore as an essential part of your job you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly you may be expected to perform other tasks not specifically addressed above.

Reports to: Head Golf Professional and General Manager

Supervises: Outside Guest Services Staff; Marshal Starters Golf Shop Staff

Qualifications

Education/Experience: PGA Membership or apprenticeship is required. Bachelors degree or Equivalent; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language/Communication: Must possess basic computer skills Word and Excel. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures financial reports and legal documents. Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf rules of golf golf facility operations and tournament operations. Fundamental supervisory practices and principles. Must be extremely organized efficient and detailoriented. Must be highly motivated goal driven and selfstarter. Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with managers and fellow coworker. Must display professional demeanor and communicate in professional language at all times. Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Certificates/Licenses/Safet Training: Class A PGA Membership in good standing. Golf Cart Safety CPR Preferred California Supervisor Harassment Prevention Certification within 30 days of hire.
