Your Opportunity

This position performs subject analysis and classification on a broad range and depth of formats including print visual audio and digital resources. As a GOBI cataloger you will create full level metadata records following RDA standards and customer specifications to support material supplied by the Library Technical Services department for purchased content at our headquarters in Contoocook NH.

This is an onsite position in Contoocook NH.

What Youll Do

  • Assigns Library of Congress Subject Headings and appropriate subheadings following Subject Headings Manual and LCSH rules as well as Library of Congress Classification and cutter numbers following LC Classification and Cataloging & Shelflisting Manual instructions
  • Assigns Dewey Decimal Classification using the full current edition
  • Assigns Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and appropriate subheading strings as well as National Library of Medicine classification
  • Assigns Canadian literature history and KF modified classification as appropriate
  • Assigns libraryspecific cuttering and shelflisting as required
  • Creates fulllevel cataloging in MARC (or other metadata format) following RDA and Library of CongressProgram for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements
  • Searches OCLC LC catalog and authorities and customer online catalogs as necessary
  • Upgrades LC CIP records and other lessthanfulllevel records

Your Team

You will be welcomed as a member of the Cataloging Unit (a team of 15 and the larger Library Technical Services department. There will be ample resources tools training and support to ensure your success as a Bibliographer/Cataloger II and your development and career growth at EIS.

About You

  • 2 years of Cataloging experience in a library or library service provider setting.
  • 2 year experience with MS Word and/or Excel.
  • Experience using LC Classification Web OCLC Connexion Catalogers Desktop and/or OCLC WebDewey.
  • Experience applying cataloging standards such as RDA and PCC guidelines or set for in the Library of Congress Subject Headings Manual and the Classification & Shelfisting Manual

What sets you apart

  • Masters degree in Library and/or Information Science preferred
  • Experience assigning Library of Congress and/or Dewey classification numbers and/or experience conducting subject analysis
  • Ability to work in a production environment with deadlines and cataloging quotas
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
  • Highly developed organizational skills to work efficiently while managing frequent interruptions and fluctuating workloads.

Pay Range

USD $45205.00 USD $64575.00 /Yr.
