Teaching Artists (ages 22 support their Lead Teaching Artist and a team of Apprentices (ages 1421 to create a public art and community impact project on a seasonal basis (Summer). This job is available to artists with advanced technical skills who are excited to share their craft with the next generation. Seasonal project teams most often paint massive outdoor murals but past projects have also included creative writing dance fashion filmmaking photography and research. Teaching Artists objective is twofold: to support the successful completion of a seasonal project; and to nurture Apprentices skills in collaboration communication creativity critical thinking goal orientation and growth orientation.
Teaching Artist wages are $24.37 an hour. Teaching Artists work 30 hours per week for an 8week period beginning in early June. Scheduled work hours are subject to change owing to inclement weather but are typically between 8am 3pm Monday through Friday. Teaching Artists must attend mandatory orientation on May 2829 between 9am 1pm.
