Position Summary
The Division of Student Affairs at Walsh University has been structured to reflect the Universitys commitment to student development and retention. The Chief of Campus Police plays an integral role in actualizing this commitment.
The Chief of Campus Police is responsible for the organization operation supervision and administration of the Department of Campus Police which is a fully sworn police agency. The Chief of Campus Police provides administrative operational and budgetary direction to ensure a safe and secure community environment incorporating the principles of community policing. The Chief will manage the Universitys Parking Services coordinate compliance and student/employee training for all federally mandated campus safety requirements and be an active members of the Student Affairs staff. The Chief of Campus Police will maintain cooperative relationships with and assist other law enforcement agencies including the Stark County Sheriff North Canton Police Department and state or federal agencies and officials.
The Chief of Campus Police will demonstrate the ability to build a team and work effectively with multiple agencies students faculty staff and guests of the University. The Chief will participate in campuswide events such as Summer Orientations Welcome Weekend Homecoming Commencement and other assigned university events. Hours will need to be flexible and may vary based upon the week and activities planned. The Chief of Campus Police is directly supervised by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
The successful candidate will embrace his/her role as not only the Chief of Campus Police but as a director of a university department with the associated educationaland administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate can expect to address first line responsibilities at times particularly during the summer months.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae and possess the following:
Education: Bachelors Degree preferred. Must have a current Ohio Peace Officer certification or be within the recertification window.
Work Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement is required. A minimum of five years of command level supervisory responsibility for operations that includes oversight of officers investigations communications and administration is desirable. Demonstrated experience in internal
policy development police procedures emergency operations and budget management is preferred. Leadership in a higher education environment is desirable.
