Nuclear Medicine at VA Palo Alto Health Care System and Academic Appointment at Stanford School of Medicine

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) and Stanford University invite nuclear medicine physicians to apply to join its fulltime faculty in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line at Stanford University School of Medicine. This is an open rank search. Rank Line and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Physicians with MD or MD/PhD degree(s) or equivalent will be considered.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care teaching scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching appropriate to the programmatic need that the individual is expected to fulfill.

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) consists of three inpatient divisions located at Palo Alto Menlo Park and Livermore in addition to seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics. VAPAHCS has 833 operating beds which include 100 acute care beds located at the Palo Alto division. VAPAHCS provides a full range of patient care services with stateoftheart technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary tertiary and longterm care in areas of medicine surgery psychiatry physical medicine and rehabilitation neurology oncology dentistry geriatrics and extended care. VAPAHCS is also home to one of the most advanced educational simulation centers in the VA network. The imaging services recently opened a new building with all new modalities including a PET/MRI.

An affiliation with the world renowned Stanford University School of Medicine provides a rich academic environment including medical training for physicians in virtually all specialties and subspecialties. The VAPAHCS Nuclear Medicine Service is tightly affiliated with the Stanford Radiology and Combined Nuclear Medicine/Diagnostic Radiology residency programs which are fully accredited with a total of 56 residents.

VAPAHCS maintains one of the top three research programs across the VA supporting both basic and clinical research efforts in a wide range of areas including geriatrics mental health Alzheimers disease spinal cord regeneration schizophrenia rehabilitation and regenerative medicine HIV research health services and health economics research.

The successful candidate will be involved in the clinical teaching and if applicable research functions within the Nuclear Medicine Service at VAPAHCS. Candidates must be boardcertified or boardeligible in nuclear medicine and have demonstrated or shown potential for an outstanding track record of research productivity. Experience in applying for and obtaining extramural research funding is desirable.

This pay range reflects base pay which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicines faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
