Job Description

Summary

This position is open until filled with a first review date scheduled for Monday March 17th.

Are you passionate about working with vehicles and keeping them running smoothly The City of Medford is looking for a Lube Technician to perform essential vehicle maintenance assist with minor repairs and support our fleet operations. In this handson role youll work on a variety of vehicles from police cruisers to fire trucks ensuring they stay roadready. Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Two 2 years of experience in servicing automotive equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possession of Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications.

Available Schedule:

  • Four 6hour days per week

Compensation & Information on Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for theFleet Service Laborer / Lube Technicianposition is $19.43firststep)to $20.40or $21.42(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.Three steps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

  • Wash and clean vehicles.
  • Performs building and grounds maintenance which may include:
    • Mopping floors.
    • Emptying trash.
    • Maintaining shop liquid delivery system.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position requires work that is primarily performed in a typical maintenance shop. Subject to varying weather conditions ranging from extreme cold to hot temperatures both indoors and outdoors. Incumbents may be exposed to dust loud noise fumes hot oils and hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn when necessary.

Position requires the ability to perform sustained physical labor including lifting carrying pushing and pulling weights of up to 75 pounds to maneuver materials and equipment. Extended periods of walking bending standing crouching and kneeling are experienced regularly. Perception of colors odors textures and sounds are essential to the performance of daily tasks and the operation of hand and power tools. Requires driving and operating a variety of vehicles and equipment with the ability to work around electrical currents.
