Come be a part of a dynamic legal team as a Paralegal at the Office of the Legal Advocate!
In this role you will work sidibyside with attorneys investigators mitigation specialists and legal support. Your responsibilities will include providing court documents reviewing organizing and indexing discovery preparing draft pleadings and conducting legal research on case law.

We Require
Associates degree in paralegal studies legal assisting or a related field
OR
Associate degree in any field and a certificate of completion from a Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies program
Two years of experience as a Legal Assistant Paralegal or performing work involving legal procedures terminology or administration
We Also Value
A bachelors degree
National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Paralegal Certification
Experience working in an indigent defense environment
Job Contributions
Assist attorneys with preparation for various types of legal proceedings including but not limited to creating trial notebooks witness files trial exhibits charts and indexes
Produce initial drafts of pleadings motions briefs memos discover requests and responses reports and correspondences as assigned and in accordance with court rules to ensure deadlines are met
Assist attorneys in researching statures legal cases and other sources for legal precedents and case applicability
Review organize index redact and bate stamp pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and use in court
Analyze organize review and verify records and other documents obtained through the process
Utilize software and case management systems for trial use
Compile annotations indexes provisions of statutes cases or administrative decisions
Attend legal seminars training classes positionoriented meetings on and offsite.
Working Conditions
Ability to work with traumatic subject matter (crime scenes accidents etc.
Frequent interruptions time pressures high volumes of work handling multiple or complicated tasks unscheduled tasks frequently changing tasks accuracy decision making concentration/vigilance teamwork working in close physical proximity with others and public contact
Ability to lift 1535 pounds from floor to waist; 25 pounds waist to shoulder or shoulder to overhead; carry 1535 pounds 100 feet or push/pull 100 pounds 1000 feet
