Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our team in Monrovia California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) program with JPL and NASA. **This position is located in Monrovia CA**
The Deep Space Network is NASAs international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their neverbeforeseen images and scientific information on Earth propelling our understanding of the universe our solar system and ultimately our place within it.
As a senior software developer you will be reporting to the Network Engineering Manager and external customers. You will be responsible for designing solutions directing a team of software engineers and developing capabilities to support customer missions. In an agile and fast paced environment you will work with the customer to identify needs translate those needs into actionable work and guide a team of skilled software developers and participate in turning whiteboard concepts into reality. Responsibilities:
- Participate in the research recommendations and architecture discussions that contribute to the overall DSN O&M Program Office vision
- Youll be the technical/development lead for DSN O&M Program MAPI applications and tool suite
- Document client requirements system architecture test plans and test cases
- Youll develop software design artifacts to capture high level design elements
- Youll create work structures for a team of software developers in the form of agile user stories
- Youll support software development/completion of user stories
- Work with the development team to verify and validate all changes to the system and ensure that requirements are met troubleshoot test and production issues and support system upgrades.
- Follow software and engineering best practices and customer processes
- Develop cutting edge custom client/server applications
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- A wellrounded scope of knowledge with excellent customer service and selfstarting skills
- Experience leading a software development team
- Experience with information system operation and sustainment
- Extensive experience with relational database design/implementation
- Have a comprehensive understanding of both the waterfall and agile life cycles
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with general Web Development (HTML JavaScript CSS) C# .NET Framework PHP Visual Basic ASP Microsoft IIS Jira React / Angular NodeJS Containerization
- Youve spent 25 years working in Java and understand servicebased design
- Youve spent 13 years working in JavaScript frameworks such as React
- Experience testing supporting and deploying systems/software at a government site
- Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action
- Ability to adjust personal style to different situations
- Ability to work under pressure (at times) and to be extremely flexible under changing priorities
- Ability to find innovative ways to solve problems
- Experience working within a rigorous engineering process e.g. CMMI Level III or greater and employing engineering best practices
- Worked in Cloudbased development environments
