Fire Protection Engineer 6 years

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with six or more years of working experience who wants to be a part of our office growth and culture. The successful candidate will have a desire to work grow and have fun with a multidiscipline engineering team. The successful individual will have a passion for protecting lives from fire risks in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have a fire protection engineering degree and professional experience in fire protection engineering. An engineering degree in other fields (mechanical architectural civil etc. with working experience in fire protection will also be considered.

Technical skills will include but may not be limited to fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; automatic suppression system design and analysis; fire detection alarm and communication system design and analysis; smoke control design and special inspections; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.

The Denver Fire Protection Engineering department collectively has 50 years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering across our department. We enjoy working together collaboratively in the office while supporting and challenging each other to deliver good engineering work that makes the world a safer place.

Qualifications :

Requirements Include:

• Bachelors degree (B.S. from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Sciences. Degree in other engineering field with fire protection experience also considered.
• From five 5 or more years of experience in the fire protection engineering/consulting profession.
• PE or ability to obtain PE within 2 years. NICET level III / IV also considered.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including oral presentation skills.
• Ability to work on a highlymotivated team think outside the box and be proud of the work you do while having a passion for expanding your knowledge and skills.

Desired Skills and Duties:

• Possess intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities including email word processing spreadsheets and simple graphics.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Revit and fire protection software packages (e.g. CONTAM FDS).
• Possess persuasive writing and technical report writing skills.
• Manage daytoday contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
• Possess project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs.
• Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations such as SFPE and NFPA.
• Provide peer reviews of colleagues work product.
• Have or be developing an area of expertise within fire protection engineering.
• Perform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations.
• Prepare performancebased designs and fire hazards analysis.
• Develop engineering judgements for code alternatives.
• Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems as well as designing new fire protection systems including suppression systems fire detection alarm and mass notification systems.
• Perform research and documentation for internal and external distribution.

The expected salary range for this position is $100000 annually.
