Job Description

If you are an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with aspirations of working in the perioperative environment or a nurse with previous theatre experience who would like to return to the workforce the Epworth perioperative Introduction to Specialty Practice program (ISP) may be for you.

This highly soughtafter role is designed to meet the specific theoretical and practical needs of a nurse wishing to pursue or further their career in the perioperative setting.

The ISP program:

  • Commencing Monday 9th June this is a 12month program at 0.8 FTE with ongoing employment opportunities for those who successfully complete the program.
  • Is designed to introduce and expand on the concepts of perioperative nursing in the areas of Anaesthetics/PACU or scrub/scout
  • Enables participants to develop an understanding of the principles and practice of perioperative nursing and ensure they have attained a satisfactory level of competency to work in a safe and effective manner
  • Combination of theory simulation and clinical exposure will be used to deliver and assess knowledge and skill
  • Commences with a study block where pre and post reading material will be provided
  • Performance appraisals and regular feedback at various intervals throughout the program

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Have 2 years acute clinical experience post completion of a graduate program
  • Have a commitment to learning and upskilling in this specialised area attending all study days and course requirements
