The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations within the organization. This role involves managing financial reporting ensuring compliance with accounting standards and optimizing financial processes. The Controller will collaborate with leadership to provide insights into the organization’s financial health and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting:
Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure accurate financial classification.
Prepare and analyze financial statements including income statements balance sheets and cash flow reports.
Generate financial reports to support internal decisionmaking.
Manage the general ledger and oversee daily journal entries.
Ensure proper reconciliation of accounts including bank statements and transactions.
Accounting & Internal Controls:
Oversee and audit posting routines to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Implement cash management practices and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing requirements.
Maintain budgeting and forecasting processes.
Banking & Cash Flow Management:
Manage banking relationships and optimize financial services.
Monitor and improve cash flow for efficient use of funds.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Lead annual audits and insurance renewals.
Develop and maintain internal controls procedures and guidelines.
Ensure business registrations and tax filings are up to date.
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and support the accounting team including AP representatives accounting clerks and staff accountants.
Qualifications & Experience:
510 years of experience in financial operations and accounting with prior leadership experience required.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Experience with financial reporting tools accounting software and ERP systems.
Leadership skills and the ability to work independently.
CPA designation is a plus but not required.
