Horticulturist

• Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf ornamental plants shrubs and trees on the facility grounds including pruning trimming root feeding and pest control.
• Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation the replacement and spraying of trees and shrubs and tending to high stress areas especially during the summer months.
• Develops detailed annual plans for the seasonal rotation of plants flowers etc. in the facilitys various landscaped areas and flowerbeds resulting in fresh eyecatching and pleasant flower and plant displays.
• Stays attuned with current fertilizer and pesticide application. Participates in the application of fertilizers and pesticides
• Oversees the preparation of soil plant beds established by seed or transplants and maintains annual perennial flowers in aesthetically pleasing arrangements.
• Oversees the operation of mechanical and power equipment utilized in the maintenance of ornamental plants and trees.
• Coordinates snow removal (where applicable).
• Assists the Manager in interviewing hiring training planning assigning and directing work evaluating performance rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Assists in the management of department members that may include but is not limited to: Landscapers Foreman.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs.
• Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower productivity costs and other expenses.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

• College degree in Agronomy; and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:

• Valid Drivers License Pesticide Application License.
• Country Club experience preferred.
