Kongiwe is seeking an experienced Water Use Licence Specialist to oversee Water Use Licence (WUL) applications and compliance for largescale projects in the mineral resources and energy sectors. With a strong technical background the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of WUL applications ensuring water use regulations are met and providing expertise to project teams navigating complex legal procedural and environmental challenges. This role is crucial in driving environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance supporting the successful of projects across various stages.
Location:Bryanston Sandton South Africa
Responsibilities will include:
- Consulting with Clients and Competent Authorities.
- Tender and proposal compilation.
- Marketing and sourcing project leads.
- Prepare submit and track water use licence applications for largescale projects ensuring compliance with relevant local regional and national regulations.
- Monitor water use compliance through auditing WUL conditions throughout the lifecycle of projects ensuring that all legal procedural and environmental requirements are continuously met.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities environmental consultants and internal project teams to ensure smooth swift application processes in adherence to the guidelines.
- Collaborate with environmental specialists to assess the potential environmental impacts of water uses and develop strategies to mitigate negative effects.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of water use licences applications including reports monitoring renewal and audits ensuring proper documentation is in place for internal and regulatory purposes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Suitably relevant tertiary postgraduate qualification
- 5 years experience project managing South African Water Use Licence application processes
- Professional Registration already in place would be preferable.
Other Important Requirements for the Role:
- Proven experience in water use licensing and compliance preferably within the mineral resources or energy sectors.
- Indepth knowledge of water use regulations environmental laws and policies relevant to largescale industrial projects.
- Experience in delivering project workstreams on time and within budget.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within crossfunctional teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial and entrepreneurial acuity.
- Ability to manage work flexibility in a consulting environment balancing daytoday tasks with strategic responsibilities.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Valid passport.
