SUMMARY
Join our Managed Service Provider (MSP) team as a Junior Linux System Administrator ensuring the stability and security of client environments. This role focuses on proactive system maintenance incident response and automation providing highlevel support across diverse infrastructures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain Linux environments ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Install configure and maintain Linux servers (primarily Ubuntu CentOS RHEL AlmaLinux) across various client environments.
- Monitor system performance security and availability applying necessary patches and updates.
- Respond to and resolve alerts using NOC monitoring and RMM tools interfacing with L2/L3 teams.
- Provide Tier 2 support to resolve Linuxrelated issues escalated by the helpdesk team.
- Assist with the management of backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies.
- Implement and support virtualization platforms such as VMware or KVM.
- Maintain documentation for systems processes and client configurations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to implement system enhancements and new solutions.
- Participate in afterhours maintenance windows when necessary.
- Follow and enforce MSP best practices security policies and compliance standards (HIPAA SOC 2 etc..
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of professional experience in Linux system administration specializing in RHEL.
- Strong understanding of core Linux services: SSH DNS DHCP NFS Apache/Nginx Samba and MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL.
- Experience managing server security firewalls (iptables UFW) SELinux and auditing tools.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for hardware software and networking issues in a Linux/Windows environment.
- Handson expertise with Puppet for automation and configuration management.
- Proficiency in NOC monitoring tools and RMM solutions building and tracking automation.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash Python or Perl) for automation tasks.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi KVM Proxmox or similar).
- Knowledge of version control tools (Git) and basic CI/CD concepts.
- Experience working in an MSP multiclient or service provider environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional documentation and technical writing skills for ticketing and process improvements.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Linux Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or LPIC1.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Google Cloud Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios Zabbix or Prometheus.
- Exposure to configuration management tools (Ansible Puppet Chef).
