FLDOHMacclennyLPN Candidates will need to attend a full two week orientation working Monday Friday 8am 4:30pm

WORK ENVIORNMENT: This is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital which operates 24/7 7 days a week. This stateowned hospital has 613 beds and provides inpatient psychiatric care for clients committed to the hospital by the state or through the criminal justice system.

TYPE OF PATIENTS: The hospital accepts adults 18 and older whose needs cant be met through treatment in a communitybased program. The program provides evaluation assessment and treatment to clients who are deemed not guilty due to insanity or who are incompetent and cant proceed with criminal proceedings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
  • Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • One year of nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be CPR certified or able to complete training.
  • Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire.
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. remain alert while on duty and work 16hour shifts on occasion.



CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess resident complaints and determine action notifying supervisor when necessary.
  • Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
  • Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law.
  • Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assigned supervisor or further assessment and treatment.
  • Prepare paperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments.
  • Coordinate residents appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as need for resident movement to and from the unit.
  • Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by facility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance.
  • Complete incident reports factually and objectively within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
  • Complete progress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
  • Advocate for residents recovery and safety.
  • Maintain appropriate and professional behavior during interactions with residents supervisors and other staff members.
  • Display professionalism throughout employment including arriving to work on time maintaining an accurate timesheet and maintaining professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
