Were looking for a talented Engineering Lead to join our mission and help us build a global platform thats scalable reliable and secure. Were working on lots of exciting challenges and youll dive right into projects helping consumers and businesses receive and send money from anywhere in the world.
The team youll be leading is a Screening Handling team
Our screening group is building solutions to prevent usage of Wise services by sanctioned individuals and organisations. Additionally it ensures that risks associated with politically exposed customers are well mitigated.
We are building a high throughput screening engine to check transaction information against a list of millions of sanctioned or politically exposed individuals and organisations. We own improve and maintain name matching and text normalisation algorithms to reduce the number of false positive alerts.
The Screening Handling teams goal is to scale our operations by improving alert review tools and automation while maintaining strong process auditability and staying compliant with regulations. Additionally you will be building a customerfacing UI for more convenient collection of information and documents.
Our main vision points are:
We want to fight financial crime and not just comply with requirements
Nearreal time performance of the fuzzy name matching engine capable of performing a high number of checks per second with good precision and recall characteristics..
Automation of manual processes: If some manual process can be described it should be automated!
Qualifications :
What does it take
Being responsible for the overall health and productivity of the engineers within your team
Providing feedback on architecture and approach and helping teams make a datadriven decisions
Having an overview of whats happening across the organisation and thinking about engineering as a whole
Rolling your sleeves up and coding being involved in the entire process
Is that you
Experience leading coaching and mentoring a data driven and high performing teams
A passion for international finance foreign exchange and payment systems
Optimization of operational processes backoffice tooling and automation
Comfortable working on big challenges and taking full ownership of the customer journey
Experience building and designing scalable and performing systems
Experience working with Java Spring framework asynchronous message queues and have worked with microservice architecture
Comfortable with SQL databases and optimisation
but dont worry we dont expect you to know everything!
