Job Description
Cogent is seeking a skilled Penetration Tester to join our cybersecurity team and help ensure our organization complies with NIST 800171 standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ethical hacking vulnerability assessment and a deep understanding of the NIST 800171 framework.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough penetration tests across our systems networks and applications to identify vulnerabilities related to NIST 800171 compliance
Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of our current security controls as outlined in NIST 800171
Develop and execute test plans to validate the 110 security controls across the 14 control families of NIST 800171
Provide detailed reports on findings including actionable recommendations for remediation
Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement and improve security measures
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats techniques and NIST 800171 revisions
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Security or related field
Must be a US citizen living in the USA
Minimum of 3 years of experience in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment
Indepth knowledge of NIST 800171 framework and its implementation
Proficiency in various penetration testing tools and methodologies
Strong understanding of network protocols operating systems and common vulnerabilities
Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders
Relevant certifications such as CEH OSCP or GPEN are preferred
