Job Description
This appointment will be instrumental in the development of a new service line for Thomas & Adamson. As such this is a great opportunity for an ambitious and motivated professional in the surveying market to join the business.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Surveyor to spearhead the development of a new department. This department will focus on deploying advanced survey technologies including laser surveys point cloud surveys dronemeasured surveys and timelapse surveys. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surveying with an understanding of business development proposal/bid writing and contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Department Development:
Lead the establishment and growth of the new survey department.
Develop and implement strategic plans for the department.
Oversee the acquisition/leasing and maintenance of survey equipment and technology.
2. Survey Operations:
Manage and execute laser surveys point cloud surveys dronemeasured surveys and timelapse surveys.
Ensure all surveys are conducted to the highest standards of accuracy and quality with experience and ability to deliver outputs to LOD 200 500.
Analyse and interpret survey data to produce detailed reports and deliverables.
3. Business Development and Proposal and Bid Writing:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the surveying sector.
Liaise with internal colleagues to identify crossselling opportunities from internal departments (both within T&A and the wider Egis group).
Prepare and submit detailed proposals and bids for survey projects.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and presentations.
4. Contract Management:
Negotiate and manage contracts with clients and subcontractors/suppliers.
Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and industry regulations.
Monitor project budgets and timelines to ensure successful project delivery.
5. Team Leadership:
Recruit train and mentor a team of surveyors and support staff as the department grows.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Surveying Geomatics Civil Engineering or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g. RICS PLS) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years experience in surveying with a focus on laser and drone surveys.
Proven experience in business development proposal writing and contract management.
Strong technical skills in survey software and equipment.
Excellent communication negotiation and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
