Job Description

Focus on the research development and testing of software components that support a sustainabilityacrossthestack approach. Work within an opensource environment to create innovative orchestration solutions that enhance energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of distributed computing systems.
This role involves implementing sustainable practices throughout the entire technology stackfrom virtualization and infrastructure to application development and Edge IoT setups including sensors and other IoT devices.

Key Tasks:

  • Research and Development of Sustainable Software Components: Develop software components that contribute to energyefficient orchestration within the EdgeCloud ecosystem. Implement and test new features that prioritize sustainability ensuring they meet performance and efficiency goals.
  • OpenSource Programming: Engage with the opensource community to share findings collaborate on new ideas and integrate community feedback. Document and share code tools and best practices to foster a collaborative environment for sustainabilityfocused development.
  • Testing and Validation: Use benchmarking tools and metrics to measure the energy consumption and environmental impact of software across the stack. Continuously optimize software based on testing results aiming for highest levels of sustainability and performance.
  • SustainabilityAcrosstheStack Implementation: Work with crossfunctional teams to ensure sustainability is integrated across all layers of the software stack from application code to infrastructure management. Develop and implement orchestration strategies that optimize resource allocation workload distribution and energy consumption. Identify and address sustainability challenges at each level of the stack including virtualization infrastructure application development and Edge IoT setups.


 


Qualifications :

  • Experience in software development with focus on sustainable computing or energyefficient systems. Experience working in opensource environments and contributing to opensource projects. Strong understanding of distributed systems cloud computing and energyefficient algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python Go or Java with a focus on energyefficient coding practices.
  • Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker Kubernetes) and microservices architecture. Knowledge of sustainability metrics benchmarking tools and performance optimization techniques. Strong analytical problemsolving and communication skills.
  • Experience with AI/ML techniques for optimizing energy efficiency.
  • Passion for sustainability and a desire to apply knowledge to reduce environmental impact of cloud computing.
  • Speak English at least on B2 level and/or German language on B2 level
