Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and organized Legal Data Capturer to join a legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately entering updating and managing legal data ensuring all records are uptodate and compliant with legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately capture and update case information client details and legal documents into the database.

  • Maintain and organize electronic and physical legal files.

  • Verify the accuracy of data and crosscheck against source documents.

  • Assist with generating reports legal forms and case summaries from captured data.

  • Ensure confidential legal information is handled securely and in line with data protection laws.

  • Support legal staff with administrative tasks such as filing document preparation and correspondence.

Qualifications & Requirements (South Africa):

  • Minimum: Matric/Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and English.

  • Preferred:

    • Certificate or Diploma in Legal Studies Office Administration Data Capturing or Business Administration (e.g. from South African institutions like Boston City Campus Damelin or Varsity College).

    • National Certificate in Data Management or Office Administration (e.g. accredited by Services SETA or similar).

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a legal environment or data capturing role is advantageous.

    • Strong computer literacy especially with Microsoft Office (Word Excel) and legal software (e.g. AJS GhostPractice or LegalSuite).

Certifications:

  • Data Capturing Certificate from an accredited South African training provider highly advantageous.

  • Typing Speed Certification (minimum 4060 words per minute recommended).

  • POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) Awareness Certification beneficial for handling confidential legal data.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment and enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure legal data and records are meticulously maintained.
