Job Summary
As the UX Designer you will play a pivotal role in creating intuitive and usercentric experiences for internal administrative platforms. Youll work closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) educational administrators and development teams to improve usability streamline administrative workflows and deliver impactful design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers developers and stakeholders to define and implement usercentered solutions.
- Lead all stages of UX design including wireframing prototyping highfidelity mockups and final UI design.
- Conduct user research usability testing and analyze user feedback to inform design decisions.
- Create personas user journey maps and other design artifacts.
- Stay updated with modern UX/UI trends tools and techniques.
- Advocate for user needs while aligning with technical and institutional requirements.
- Support digital transformation and process improvement through UX insights.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of UX design experience preferably within higher education government or large enterprise systems.
- Proven experience designing interfaces for education administrative systems (e.g. student information systems course scheduling tools registrar interfaces HR/payroll systems etc..
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UX strategy research and interface design work.
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma Adobe XD Sketch InVision Axure or similar.
- Experience conducting stakeholder interviews creating wireframes mockups and prototypes.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG Section 508.
- Familiarity with Agile project environments and collaboration with crossfunctional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in information architecture and/or service design for education.
- Experience working on multicampus or systemwide projects.
- Understanding of FERPA HIPAA or similar data privacy regulations in higher education or public sector environments.
- Located within New York State or willing to travel occasionally to Albany or other SUNY campuses (travel not reimbursed).
Contract Details
- Duration: 2 years with a potential 1year extension
