Job Description
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to build and develop technology for Nikes future in direct partnership with engineering leaders across the enterprise. This role collaborates with Engineers Architects Product Managers and Program Managers to create reusable wellarchitected and highly scalable solutions to modernize Nikes technology landscape.
Key focus areas include foundational technology consumer experiences supply chain & planning technology and analytics. The successful candidate should be wellversed in backend technologies and infrastructure with the ability to contribute to frontend development as needed. This candidate should be a seasoned software engineer with excellent communication and teamwork skills as well as the ability to multitask innovate and challenge conventional thinking.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Make handson contributions to the technical analysis technical design and implementation plans to replace technology solutions; this may involve engaging collaborating and partnering with the teams who build and maintain Nikes production systems and services
- Design and develop efficient reusable secure and resilient technology solutions to replace existing deprecated software in direct support of Nikes multiyear simplification and modernization journey
- Perform handson software engineering and coding tasks aligned with multiyear platform roadmaps Global Technology standards and modern industry trends
- Help evolve standards and best practices to drive continuous transformational changes to Nikes platform engineering culture and accelerating technical maturity in innovation experimentation and developer productivity
- In addition you will also enable crossteam collaboration across software engineering teams by growing and supporting the culture of communities of practices (COPs) for specialized multidisciplinary technical areas including Observability API Data AI/ML Kubernetes DevOps Cloud Pipeline Disaster Recovery OpenSource etc.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This role reports into the Tech Modernization Organization and will connect across all levels and functions of Global Technology at Nike to deliver modernization of platforms at scale. This role is critical to accelerating Nikes journey to simplify and modernize its technology landscape to deliver costsavings better business agility and faster timetomarket. This role will involve partnering closely with functions that support foundational technologies and consumer experiences across Nikes public cloud infrastructure digital retail wholesale and data centers globally.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Information Systems or similar field or relevant professional experience education and training
- 4 years software engineering experience as an individual contributor developing custom software using common languages or technologies including but not limited to Java Golang Python Node.js React or JavaScript
- 3 years in senior engineering role responsible for system design decisions and leadership on engineering squads focused on delivering enterprise scale systems
- 3 years professional experience with Cloud Native technologies on AWS; proven experience in tackling cloud challenges around clustering endtoend service design resiliency reliability streaming highavailability / disaster recovery (HA/DR) and complex distributed systems
- 2 years professional experience with container runtimes such as Kubernetes deployment tools like Terraform and configuration management solutions like Ansible
- Experience delivering complex software migrations
- Deep foundational knowledge of software engineering practices particularly on distributed systems and cloud native architectures

- Highly passionate about delivery being comfortable with both providing technical direction as well as being a contributing member of the team
